I went to Napa to pick up a grease gun and on the way out saw a rack of cleaning products branded Surf City Garage. What really caught my eyes was the price for this stuff. Wax was at 22 dollars for a bottle that was no bigger than the Meguiar's #26 yellow wax that I use. Shocked Is this stuff really worth the money? Anyone use any of the Surf City Garage products?

Really no one has used any of their products?

I did some reseach on other forums and others seem to think it rivals Meguiar's. The wax also seems to have the same attention to detail when it comes to selecting the wax ingredients just like meguiar's. The bug and tar remover also seems to be a popular selection in the brand.

It probably is pretty good stuff. I have seen it in the store but never used it and don't know anyone that has used it...

That looks to me like what you might call a "boutique" wax, brewed in small batches by some small time, cottage industry. It may have an expensive ingredient or two that can do one thing or another well but it won't have the R & D investment of a major, name brand such as Maguiar's. It's your $22 and your car and your 6 months to test it. I understand, you're asking to get feedback before you buy but even that doesn't always work. I wish I had a dollar for every product I bought because I heard or read glowing reviews from somebody but I was personally disappointed once I tried it.

Your new avatar threw me off lol

I am actually quite happy with my Mirror Glaze #26 (smells like bananas). I just wanted to see why this stuff is so crazy in price, even by professional standards. I may buy a bottle when I finish my Meguiar's and give everyone a review.

I bought some of their microfiber towels to bring an online order up to snuff for free shipping. THe towels were 1st rate but yes pricey.

If it is made by the actual Surf City garage here in Huntington Beach, it is definitely a boutique deal. SS Garage is a guy that has a big collection of classic cars and runs a resto shop. I have seen some of them on TV but haven't been over there in person. If nothing else it is worth going to the website just to see the entrance to the site, pretty cool... http://www.surfcitygarage.com/vt.html

Ya that's the brand I saw at Napa. Looks legit but I didn't know for sure if it was just good marketing or if the product was really worth it.

It's perfectly fine stuff. Is it anything terribly unique or special that will transform your car into something it isn't? Will it correct all your paint defects and make it look like you lavished hours of detailing time on it? No, and no. Nothing will. There are no real shortcuts in this game and perfection takes time. Even Zymol Royale Glaze at $10,000 a jar list price (don't believe me?) won't fix paint problems.

If you properly detail your car it will look amazing before you even apply the wax. At that point it almost doesn't matter what you put on it, unless your eye is critical enough that you can see differences that subtle.

I just found this post , but i have been using meguiers and surf city .
Surf city makes great products. Do not have too much experience with the waxes , however all there interior products are great . Like i said no to much into the waxes but when i did use these they left a great shine , dosent last as long as youd think . Id recommend clay bar , wax , the seal it with a product called "jet seal " or something like that chemical guys carries it another great product.
