Radio On until Door Opens :
I have always wanted my PT’s radio to stay on after I turn the key off without me having to use the ACC position on my key……in addition, it would be nice if it turned itself off when I open the driver’s door. Here’s how:

Parts Needed :
2 – Bosch mini-giant relays :
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5635_Bosch+BRLY1.html
1 - 1n4001 diode
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5909_400V%2C+1A+Micromini+Silicon+Diodes+-2+per+pack-.html

Remove the A pillars – you will be taking the dashtop off
Remove the center dash bezel – you have to remove the radio
Remove the dashtop – you need to access the alarm module
Unbolt & remove the radio – you need to access the radio’s wiring

Wire the 2 relays as shown in the diagram below (there is a wire loop and a diode in the install picture – orient the diode’s stripe as pictured in the diagram).
Relay 1 :
87 = red wire with white stripe going to the radio
87a = don’t connect
86 = red wire with white stripe coming from the car’s radio harness
85 = connects to terminal 87a of Relay 2
30 = pink wire with light blue stripe located in radio wiring harness
Relay 2 :
87 = don’t connect
87a = connects to terminal 85 of Relay 1
86 = pink wire with light blue stripe located in radio wiring harness
85 = tan driver’s door pinswitch wire located at pin 25 of the alarm module
30 = black ground wire located in radio wiring harness

Cut the red wire with white stripe in the radio’s harness. Connect the car harness side of the red wire with white stripe to terminal 86 of relay 1 and the radio’s side of the red wire with white stripe to terminal 87 of relay 1.

Adjustment to wiring for Window On instead of Radio On :
Wire the 2 relays as shown in the diagram below (there is a wire loop and a diode in the install picture – orient the diode’s stripe as pictured in the diagram).
Relay 1 :
87 = tan wire going to the window switch
87a = don’t connect
86 = tan wire coming from the car’s side of the window harness
85 = connects to terminal 87a of Relay 2
30 = dark blue wire with black stripe located in front power outlet (dash mounted cigarette lighter) wiring harness
Relay 2 :
87 = don’t connect
87a = connects to terminal 85 of Relay 1
86 = dark blue wire with black stripe located in front power outlet (dash mounted cigarette lighter) wiring harness
85 = tan driver’s door pinswitch wire located at pin 25 of the alarm module
30 = black ground wire located in radio wiring harness

Cut the tan wire in the power window harness. Connect the car harness side of the tan wire to terminal 86 of relay 1 and the window switch side of the tan wire to terminal 87 of relay 1.

Sunroof Power On until Door Opens :
You park your car and remove the key and all of your passengers get out and you realize you left the sunroof open. If you (the driver) haven’t opened the driver’s door yet, just hit the switch and close the sunroof - with this mod…..the power will stay live after the key is turned off until the driver’s door is opened. Here’s how :

Parts Needed :
2 – Bosch mini-giant relays :
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5635_Bosch+BRLY1.html
1 - 1n4001 diode
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5909_400V%2C+1A+Micromini+Silicon+Diodes+-2+per+pack-.html

Remove the A pillars – you will have to take the dashtop off
Remove the center dash bezel – you will have to take the dashtop off
Remove the dashtop – you need to access the alarm module
Remove and unplug the overhead console

Wire the 2 relays as shown in the diagram below (there is a wire loop and a diode in the install picture – orient the diode’s stripe as pictured in the diagram).
Relay 1 :
87 = yellow wire with red stripe going to the overhead console side of the overhead console wiring harness
87a = don’t connect
86 = yellow wire with red stripe coming from the car’s side of the overhead console wiring harness
85 = connects to terminal 87a of Relay 2
30 = pink wire located in the overhead console wiring harness
Relay 2 :
87 = don’t connect
87a = connects to terminal 85 of Relay 1
86 = pink wire located in the overhead console wiring harness
85 = tan driver’s door pinswitch wire located at pin 25 of the alarm module
30 = black wire with light green stripe located in the overhead console wiring harness

1) Run a length of wire from the alarm in the dashtop to the overhead console.
2) Cut the yellow wire with red stripe in the overhead console harness. Connect the car harness side of the yellow wire with red stripe to terminal 86 of relay 1 and the overhead console side of the yellow wire with red stripe to terminal 87 of relay 1.
3) Stash Relays in roof after taping any bare connections. Wrap the whole thing in tissue or foam if you fear vibration.
