I was going to start a thread on this exact topic. Hope it's alright to add to this one instead. I followed this vid on my wife's Hyundai and it is mind altering how well it works. The one thing I did differently was that I used regular wax instead of RainX. It works just as well and it's easier to apply.

One caveat... do not use the steel wool on the inside of the glass since it will likely destroy any tint or protective film. I did use it on the inside of the windshield since there is no film there.

It takes a bit of elbow grease. But it's an option for folks who don't have a buffer or similar tool handy.

Thanks. I hope folks find it as useful as I did. Haven't done it on my Cruiser yet.

Was at Menards yesterday looking for something to remove hard water stains on the shower door in my master bath. I ran across Rain X Shower Door X-Treme Clean. Bought it, and used my cordless drill fitted with the 3M polishing foam pad to save time. In less than 10 minutes, that door glass was nearly new and flawless. I gave it a go on the 2005 convertible windshield thinking it might do some good. Oh yeah... after taping off the painted surround, I worked about 15 minutes on the passenger side. Looks like new. Will get the other side done this evening, then apply a coat of Rain X water repellent.
