The sanding and polishing remove the UV protectant layer.
So, spray a couple of coats of UV protectant clearcoat when done.

I got "down" low and polished the chrome exhaust tips on the new to me "Limited" yesterday.

I find that just a regular (every other month) application of RainX keeps the water spots off.
And, after washing, I always drive to the car wash close by and rinse with "Spotless Rinse" cycle.

I just assumed that the polished aluminum wheels on the 2005 Dream Cruiser were clearcoated.
So, I simply use a spray on wax occasionally, and wipe & buff off the excess.
